Forwarding a message from Mt. Diablo Parks
The project for this month is to continue making improvements to Wassermann Trail. We took a break from the trail last month due to the rain but now we have clean, sharp, and labeled tools. This month we will get to the trail differently than we have in the past.
Our next trail project is this Saturday, February 13. We will meet at 8:30 a.m. The meeting location will be on Russellmann Road just after you turn off of Marsh Creek Road. Park along the edge of Russellmann Road. Once it looks like everyone is there we will to drive onto the Concord Mount Diablo Trail Riders Association property. We will drive to an area where we can all park a few miles up the road. We will need to travel as a group because the road is gated and I need to get you all in. After we park, everyone can get in the van and I will drive to a drop off location near the park boundary at the end of Cardinet Oaks Road. The top end of Wassermann is just a few feet inside the gate and we can start the project there.
If you are late you may not be easily able to get to our project location. If you want to leave early, you will have to walk back to the car. From the park boundary it is a downhill walk that I have not measured but it felt like a little more than a mile.
Bring lunch, snacks and lots of water. Wear clothing layers that will allow you to be warm in the morning but by mid-morning you may be trying to cool down. Wear sturdy shoes or boots, gloves and hardhats. We have gloves and hardhats to loan if you need them.
Because we are not parking in the park, parking passes are not needed.
If you are under the age of 18 and have not given me a completed parental permission slip in the last 2 years you will need to complete the attached form and give it to me before you can participate.
Let me know any questions you may have.
See you Saturday,
Park Maintenance Worker / Trails Coordinator
